ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AS A TOOL IN SOLVING FORENSIC EXPERTISE TASKS

Abstract

The article reveals the possibilities of practical application of the information potential of artificial intelligence in the practice of forensic expertise using the example of solving the tasks of forensic linguistic (semantic-textual) expertise. Based on the analysis of scientific developments of scientists in the field of law and forensic expertise, it was established that the use of artificial intelligence in forensic expertise will contribute to increasing the accuracy, efficiency and objectivity of expert research, under the conditions of appropriate legal regulation of the use of artificial intelligence technologies in forensic activities in Ukraine. Taking into account expert practice, it has been determined that the functional capabilities of artificial intelligence in forensic linguistic examination are implemented in the following areas: analysis of research objects and putting forward versions regarding the presence of linguistic markers of expertly significant features in them in accordance with the question posed for examination based on information content generated by artificial intelligence at the request of the expert at the preparatory stage of the study; carrying out lexical-semantic, conceptual-semantic, communicative-pragmatic analysis at the analytical stage of the research. The expert, whose activities must comply with professional and ethical standards of forensic expertise, is responsible for interpreting the results, forming an expert opinion, and its legal significance. The instrumental potential of ChatGPT in implementing the tasks of forensic linguistic examination is determined by its ability to provide dictionary definitions, interpret the meaning of a word taking into account the context of the message as a whole and its genre and stylistic features; compare the meaning of a word with its synonymous variants; reveal the figurative motivation of word use, build semantic-associative chains within the lexical-semantic field; to provide a contextual interpretation of the meaning of words; provide interpretations of neologisms, slang, professional words, etc. that are not lexicographically recorded.
