PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN FORENSIC COMMODITY EXPERTISE: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS

Abstract

This article explores the practical aspects of applying artificial intelligence (AI) technologies as an auxiliary tool in the field of forensic commodity expertise. The study emphasizes that while AI tools may significantly improve the efficiency of expert examinations, their integration also entails certain risks and limitations. These risks arise from the fact that forensic experts bear criminal liability for the objectivity, accuracy, and completeness of their conclusions, which cannot be fully delegated to automated systems. The article highlights the potential benefits of implementing AI technologies, particularly the acceleration of research processes, automation of routine tasks, and enhanced data visualization. At the same time, key challenges are identified, including gaps in legal regulation, unresolved ethical issues, and the quality and reliability of data required for algorithm training. The analysis of current approaches suggests that AI should be considered not as a substitute, but as a smart assistant supporting forensic experts in their professional activities. The study concludes that gradual integration of AI into forensic commodity expertise is appropriate and may contribute to increasing the objectivity, credibility, and efficiency of expert research. Prospective directions for further investigation include the development of standardized methodologies, improvement of data quality, and addressing regulatory and ethical concerns.
